About SkillsTech Australia
The Queensland Government created SkillsTech Australia in 2006 to boost Queensland's skilled workforce and build the capacity of the Vocational Education and Training sector.
SkillsTech Australia is a lead TAFE institute and the largest public provider of trade and technician training in Queensland and Australia.
The development and delivery of training for key industries covers: automotive, building and construction, electrical and electronics, manufacturing and engineering, and sustainable technologies.
SkillsTech Australia delivers training to people of all ages - from school students through to mature age students. Fifteen thousand students currently undertake trade and technician training at SkillsTech Australia.
We provide over one hundred and twenty training programs including school-based programs, pre and post apprenticeship training, diplomas, advanced diplomas, licensing and, of course, traineeships and apprenticeships.
SkillsTech Australia delivers trade and technician training at ten centres across Brisbane. A new major training centre is being developed on Brisbane's north side.
The Queensland Government is investing $181 million dollars in SkillsTech Australia's main Brisbane training centre at Acacia Ridge, now in stage two of development. The training centre features state of the art equipment, and includes a new foundry. A new $10m Automotive precinct is currently under construction at the Acacia Ridge Training Centre, for up to date information on this view Training Infrastructure Investment for Tomorrow (TIIFT) program.
All new SkillsTech Australia facilities meet environmental standards in design and operation. SkillsTech Australia's Corporate Social Responsibility Program contributes to our communities. For example carpentry and plumbing students build cubby houses that are donated to charities. Our sponsorship of the Creekwatch Program protects environmentally sensitive ecosystems.
SkillsTech Australia teachers deliver world class teaching to over twenty thousand students annually.
One of our teachers recently won the award for national Teacher of the Year.
SkillsTech Australia is taking trade and technician training into the future with blended learning - a mix of face to face teaching, workplace-based learning, video conferencing and e-learning.
Training is offered throughout the year to meet industry needs.
SkillsTech Australia is responding to the Queensland Government's 2020 Vision: Toward Q2 - Tomorrow's Queensland. We will play a pivotal role in meeting the Q2 target that three out of four Queenslanders will hold trade, training or tertiary qualifications.
