Right to Information
What is Right to Information?
On 1 July 2009, new legislation was introduced to provide Queensland communities with greater access to information held by the Government.
- Right to Information Act 2009 (PDF 1.03MB) (which replaced the Freedom of Information Act 1992)
- Information Privacy Act 2009 (PDF 1MB) (Queensland's first dedicated privacy law).
SkillsTech Australia is committed to release information administratively wherever possible so that accessing information under the Right to Information Act 2009 is the last resort. The Right to Information Act aims to give greater access to information in the government's possession or under the government's control unless, on balance, it is contrary to the public interest to give the access.
How to access information?
SkillsTech Australia provides the following options to access non-personal information:
- DET's publication scheme
- DET's disclosure log
- STA's Publication Scheme - coming soon
If you are unable to find the information, please contact SkillsTech Australia to discuss if the information is accessible through administrative release, or if you will need to make an RTI request via the department. It is important to note, that fees accompany any RTI application. Please contact:

If you wish to access information held by SkillsTech Australia containing your personal information, or amend your personal information, we recommend you apply under the Information Privacy Act. There are no fees payable if you apply under the IP Act for your personal information.
